Staff Norm-setting Meeting

Finding ways to create space for everyone’s voice to be heard is as important for adults as it is for students. Staff meetings conducted in a class meeting format provide an excellent forum for authentic discussion. This provides a structure for setting norms together. Although written for those using CCC’s school climate program (Caring School Community), it can be used in any setting.

Class meeting rules: Talk one at a time. Listen to one another. Speak respectfully to one another. Welcome differences of opinion. When discussing problems, say “people” instead of using names.
